I want to say thank you for the outpouring of love and support in response to my recent post on my postpartum experience. I was nervous about sharing, but the numerous messages from people who could relate in one way or another, made me very glad I did.
Mother or not, body image and creating a healthy relationship with food and exercise is something we all, to some degree, work through. You do not have to work through it alone.
With the holiday season now in full swing, we'll be focusing on the importance of connecting: with yourself and with those around you.
To kick things off, I'm embarking on 30 day ROMWOD challenge and I'd love for you to join me. For the month of November, I'll be making time to complete a ROMWOD workout each day. Romwod is an online platform that provides daily videos to improve range of motion, athletic performance, and promote recovery, healing and longevity (ROMWOD). I love it because it's quick, simple, inexpensive, and serves as a timeout to connect with myself for introspection. This is a far different intensity from your quick vinyasa flow or bikram yoga. Each workout is often less than 20 minutes and focuses on 3-5 poses, held for an extended period of time.
Think of it like guided meditation with yoga sprinkled in.
Gotta love that right?
The short time frame and the different intensity (read: not sweat inducing) make it a perfect midday break from my desk or as part of my bedtime routine. I started using ROMWOD while I was pregnant to reduce stress and improve/maintain my flexibility. It's also been integral in my postpartum recovery. Childbirth is one thing... but breastfeeding also does a number on your shoulders and back...
